About Us

FZE Crest

Fort Zumwalt East High School was established in 2007. Examining our crest from top to bottom, the torch represents the light of education and the flame represents the heat and passion of pursuing knowledge. The 9 stars around our crest represent the 9 brightest and most visible stars of the constellation Leo - the Lion, which happens to be our school mascot - the Lions. The stripes represent the unity and inclusiveness of our school and are donned in our school colors - black & gold. The arch underneath the stripes along with the stripes themselves represent the rising sun - the East. The trophy represents athletics & success, the lyre represents arts in all forms - performing & fine, and the keys atop the book represent an education providing the keys to opportunities available for all members of the East High community.

History

In April of 2006, voters approved a no-tax increase bond issue to fund, among  other projects, the construction of the district’s fourth comprehensive high  school to be located on the corner of First Executive Avenue and Boone Hills  Drive in St. Peters. The 43-acre property was formerly Koenig’s Farm.  Construction on the school began immediately following the successful bond issue and followed an aggressive 18-month completion time table. East High School opened its doors to over 600 freshmen and sophomores on August 20, 2007.
