Congratulations to Hayilee Hemphill on being named one of the Students of the Week. Mr. Munro states: Hayilee has done a great job making friends after moving to a new district. And she is adjusting to the expectations of FZEast High. She has been a leader in reminding students of being respectful and the importance of the class rules in our Math 9 class. She has removed herself from distractions on a few occasions so she could better focus on completing her work. I appreciate her hard work. Keep it up Hayilee. #LionPride

Congratulations Ariel Mata on being named one of the Students of the Week for October 7th. Mrs. Shive reports: Ariel has done an amazing job coming up with activities to celebrate
Hispanic Heritage month! Not only has she dedicated most of her time to creating posters, slideshows, and researching, but she has also increased the engagement of so many peers by setting up group chats and encouraging them to all work together to celebrate their cultures! #LionPride

Sean Lawson was nominated for Student of the Week by Ms. Wynn. Sean went above
and beyond by lending his Sony headphones to a fellow student whose headphones had broken. His act of generosity, especially to a peer with special needs, reminds us of the incredible impact that simple acts of kindness can have in our community. 💙 Thank you for showing us what it means to be compassionate, thoughtful, and inclusive. You’re
helping to make our school a better place for everyone! Congratulations, Sean. #LionPride

Congratulations to Aidan Fitzwilliam on being named Student of the Week for October 7th. Mrs. Loutzenhiser reports: I could write a full paragraph on how great Aidan is in Health class - how he participates, gets along with peers, is fun to talk to, how he gave me a coupon for a free car wash, etc. But, what I really want to highlight is one particular moment in the Monday, September 30 JV soccer game against Ladue. During the 2nd half of this game, the Lions were down 3-0 and Ladue was pounding on our defense which included Aidan, the starting center back. There was a cross that came from the left side of the
field and Jay Loutzenhiser, the starting left back, tried to deflect the ball out of bounds but, instead, deflected the ball into their own goal. Immediately, Jay showed all signs of defeat - he dropped down to a crouched position, his head went down, and his face went into his hands. Being down 4-0 it would have been really easy for his teammates to point fingers and blame Jay. However, Aidan went right over to Jay, pulled him up, and said "You're good. Get up. It's not your fault." That one simple act showed so much about Aidan's true character and what true sportsmanship looks like. Picking a teammate up during their time of need. So simple and yet, so powerful. Thanks, Aidan, for demonstrating what a true teammate and leader looks like. #LionPride

Her teacher at ARBS reported that she has a positive attitude and respectful demeanor. I am so proud of Shandra and know that she will continue to do great at ARBS!

Rayka Barbosa is one of the Students of the Week for September 30th. Rayka always comes to school with a big smile on her face and ready to work, no matter how bad of a day she is having. She always tries to cheer up others if she sees they are down, and brings a smile to everyone around her. Rayka will also translate words and phrases into Portuguese for us, and help her peers make outside pop culture connections to the academic material. She is a great student and I am so glad to have her in my class! Congratulations, Rayka! #LionPride

Logan Lucas is one of our Students of the Week for Sept. 23rd. His teacher states: In addition to always engaging well in class discussions and encouraging others to do so through his example, Logan has shared some of his abilities in creating 3D printed sculptures that are pure pieces of art. His talent is on par with any that I've seen in production of sculptures of this type and found natural tie ins to our class discussion that made sharing and updating me on his progress of these projects sensible. I'm thankful he's provided me the opportunity to develop a relationship with him, and to get to see a window into is life beyond the classroom. Congratulations Logan! #LionPride
