Congratulations to Briar Laird on being named one of the Students of the Week for March 18th. Mr. Leibner has seen the remarkable growth Briar has shown from the beginning of this school year to this semester. He no longer gets a para with him every hour because of the growth he's made throughout the year. His classroom behavior and coping skills have expounded his diligence in self governance and effort.

Mrs. Loutzenhiser nominated Noah Hertzell for the Student of the Week for March 18th. Noah joined my class about mid-way through 1st semester. He worked so hard in class and never complained when I made the daily morning announcement of "Let's put our phones away and get to work." AND THEN I went to my mailbox this week and found my one and only Honor Roll certificate - the recipient - Noah Hertzell. I am so proud of you, Noah. Keep fighting the good fight, continue making good choices, and remember that I am always here if you need anything. Congratulations Noah!

Congratulations to Maya Harris on being named one of the Students of the Week for March 18th. Ms. Senseney said when Maya started at East High School she was very quiet and didn't talk much. As she has become more comfortable, Maya has really opened up with her classmates and teachers. Maya is a very kind student who looks for ways to be helpful to her teachers and friends. If Maya notices another student seems down, she will try to talk them and find ways to cheer them up. She enjoys making those around her smile and tries to find nice things to do for others. I have really enjoyed getting to know Maya and look forward to seeing all of the things that she can accomplish!

Mrs. Goodson nominated Alishbah Syed for Student of the Week for February 26th because she is such a hard worker in AP World History. She really wants to understand the content and is able to offer insights to certain areas of study because of her background. She is kind and thoughtful, is supportive of her classmates, and I appreciate her determination to succeed. Congratulations Alishbah!

Congratulations to Lydia Null on being named one of the Students of the Week for February 26th. Mr. McCann nominated Lydia because she is a huge inspiration in the weight room. She is a competitive power lifter and seeing her work extremely hard in my class to improve her maxes has been impressive and inspirational. Each class she pushed herself, while continuing to learn new ways of lifting to help her powerlifting techniques. Lydia is a model student that all weight coaches desire to have. We can’t wait to hear about her power lifting meets and exceeding her previous goals!

Congratulations to Serhii Freiak on being named one of the Students of the Week for February 26th. Mrs. McCoy states Serhii came to her Algebra 1 class last year from Ukraine, knowing very little English. He has done an amazing job at adapting to a new set of norms here at East. He excels in the two math classes he has taken, despite having to chat with me through Google translate. He works incredibly hard, asks questions and is incredibly bright and motivated. He should be recognized for overcoming a challenging move to a new country, learning a new language and excelling academically.

Domenic Rohlf was nominated by Mrs. Robischeau as one of the Students of the Week for February 5th. When first reading about Domenic, Mrs. Robischeau reports, she had a picture of who he would be and the challenges that he would encounter here at East, but I was gravely mistaken. You see, Domenic considers challenges, that I consider treacherous terrain, to be merely a walk in the park. Even though Domenic has battled internally and externally for his entire life, he embodies kindness and grace. He extends a helping hand when others are too afraid to ask for help. He advocates for his needs and that of others, and he is unafraid to be his authentic self. His current success is something that he should boast about; something to be so proud of, but Domenic is humble and quiet in his accomplishments. He will exceed expectations continuously and I cannot wait to see all that he is capable of. Congratulations Domenic!

Congratulations to Reagan Molnar on being named on of the Students of the Week for February 5th. Reagan was nominated by Mr. Powell who says Reagan experienced a lot of struggles to start the year in American Government, and it would have been really easy for her to give up in the face of adversity. Reagan, however, refused to allow these struggles to get the best of her, gritted her teeth, and worked relentlessly to find success. With this type of work ethic, I am sure that Reagan is going to continue to find success in the future. I am so proud of Reagan for all of the hard work that she put in and want her to know that those efforts have not gone unnoticed!
